From farm to treat bowl: how Shameless Pets sources its ingredients

Your pets drool over our treats because they’re delicious. Pet parents do because of what’s in them.

Most pet food brands don't talk much about where their ingredients come from. We'd like to change that starting with exactly how a fruit or vegetable goes from a farm field to your pet's treat bag.

It's a shorter, more honest supply chain than you might expect.

It starts on a farm

The upcycled ingredients baked into our treats come from farms. We source from farm partners across the United States who raise fruits and vegetables with care, and who end up with more (or different-looking) produce than traditional retail channels will accept.

These are farmers who grew a beautiful crop and still couldn't sell all of it. Maybe a portion of the harvest came out smaller than spec. Maybe the blueberries were a little too large, or the sweet potatoes grew in unusual shapes. In conventional retail, that produce has nowhere to go.

That's where we come in.

We buy what grocery stores won't

When our farm partners have produce that doesn't meet grocery store cosmetic standards, we purchase it. The nutrition is identical to what ends up on shelves. The flavor is the same. The only difference is the appearance, and your pup is definitely not going to notice that.

This arrangement works well for everyone involved. Farmers get paid for their full harvest instead of taking a loss on the portion that gets turned away. We get real, high-quality ingredients at scale. And your pet gets a treat made from whole fruits and vegetables, not fillers.

From farm to production

Once we've sourced the ingredients, they head to our production facility where they're cleaned, processed, and transformed into the treats you know. We don't add artificial preservatives or mystery ingredients. The simplicity of the supply chain is part of what keeps the final product clean.

We know our farmers by name. We know what they grow, where they're located, and why they partner with us. That's not something most pet food brands can say, and it's something we're not shy about being proud of.
